📚 LIBRARY STATUS UPDATE

We want to keep our community informed about recent changes at the library and reassure you about what they mean for your library service.

⏰ LIBRARY HOURS

Yes, the library is currently closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Unfortunately, recent budget reductions resulted in the elimination of two part-time positions and reduced hours for our remaining staff. At this time, we do not have enough staffing to safely operate the building beyond current hours.

🔖 YOUR LIBRARY CARD STILL WORKS

The good news is that our library remains certified. Your SAILS library card continues to provide access to all the services you know and love, including:

🔹Borrowing and requesting materials from other SAILS libraries
🔹Access to the extensive Libby ebook and audiobook collection
🔹Visiting and borrowing from other SAILS member libraries
🔹All other benefits of being part of the SAILS Library Network

❌ WHAT ABOUT DECERTIFICATION?

At this time, the library has not been decertified.

However, if our reduced operating hours and current budget remain unchanged, decertification is still a possibility in the future. We are actively working with town officials and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to find a path forward that preserves our certification and the services our community depends on.

If our status changes in any way, we will share updates promptly through our usual communication channels, including in-house flyers, social media, and our newsletter.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support. Your encouragement means a great deal to our staff, and we remain committed to providing the best possible library service to our community.
