Clutter Control: Learn all about it!!

Dave Downs will speak at the Bridgewater Public Library on Tuesday, May 22nd, at 7:00p.m.

His topic is: Clutter Control 101.

We all have STUFF! Why do we acquire and save more possessions than we need? What happens when our stuff starts to own us? Why can’t we just throw things away?
With his upbeat and unique approach, Dave Downs explores the many reasons that our drawers, closets and garages get filled with STUFF. Downs offers helpful hints for managing this difficult problem. Dave uses colorful stories throughout the talk to engage as well as inform the audience. You may recognize a part of yourself in his stories.

Participants will leave knowing that if we are thoughtful about what we acquire, what we keep and what we discard, we will start to reverse the tendency to bury ourselves in “treasures!”

Dave offers positive suggestions to overcome this widespread problem. Using himself as an example, Downs explores the many reasons that our sheds, garages and homes get filled with STUFF and what to do about this common problem.

Dave Downs is an experienced entertainer and a retired school teacher with a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Education.

The public is invited to attend this free program, funded by the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library. It will be held in the library’s Flora T. Little Meeting Room which is accessible by elevator. There is parking in back of the library, located at 15 South Street.

Senior Painters Display Art in Gallery

The Bridgewater Senior Painters, led by Bill Pincolini, will exhibit their art in the Bridgewater Public Library’s Flora T. Little Gallery during May and June. The selection is entitled “Blooming in Bridgewater” and will focus on floral designs. Watercolors, oils, acrylics and pastels will be featured in the show.

Featured painters are: Ruth Bates, Julie Bernache, Grace Bjorklund, Sis Denson, Norene DiNardo, Joyce Feeney, Evelyn Fleming, Claire Freeman, Donna Jones, Senja Kravitz, Robert Lundberg, Lucille O’Connell, Virginia Pelletier, William Pincolini, Susan Puffer, Ruth Robinson, Ed Shonio, Anita Smith, Robert Thuotte, Liza Zeid, and Paula Arms.
The gallery is open during regular library hours. The library is open Monday-Wednesday 9a.m.-8p.m.; Thursday 9a.m.-6p.m.; Friday 9a.m.-5p.m.; Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m.

The gallery is accessible by elevator.

Coastal Quilt Artist Program April 21st

The Coastal Quilt Artists will present a program at the Bridgewater Public Library on Saturday, April 21^st at 11:00 a.m. Their talk will focus on the art of quilting, the process, and where they find their inspiration.

CQA artists are currently displaying a selection of their quilts in the library’s Flora T. Little Gallery which will continue through the end of April. Exhibitors are: Lynne Conover, Betty Crowell, Janet Duncan Dignan, Janet Dye, Sandy Gregg, Anne Marcin, Penny Myles, Graciela Piccolo, Joan Randall, Mary Lou Schwinn, Pat Smith, and Bobbie Sullivan.

The public is invited to this free program which will be held in the library’s Flora T. Little Meeting Room on the lower level. Parking is available in back of the library, located at 15 South Street.

The Four Shapes of Boston!!

On Tuesday, April 10th, Boston by Foot will be at the Bridgewater Public Library to present a slide/lecture entitled “The Four Shapes of Boston”, a 50 minute lecture. The program begins at 7:00 p.m.

The four shapes of Boston, which will be presented by an experienced Boston by Foot guide, traces the history of Boston’s topography and architecture from 1630 to the present.

Boston by Foot, Inc., a non-profit educational corporation, was founded by Polly Flansburgh in 1976 to promote public awareness of the city’s outstanding architectural heritage. To date, more than 220,000 residents and visitors from around the world have participated in Boston by foot tours. Learn all about Coffee at the Library

Professor James Hayes-Bohanan will speak at the Bridgewater Public Library on Monday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m. He will speak about coffee, and the human and physical geography of the world’s second-most traded commodity. The audience will learn about the origins of coffee, how it is grown, and how customers can help coffee farmers improve their lives.

Professor Hayes-Bohanan is on the faculty of the Geography Department at Bridgewater State University. He will be assisted in his presentation by a group of BSU students who have studied coffee on campus or in Nicaragua. Bring your questions about coffee and bring a mug for the delicious coffee that will be served.
