April breezes billow boldly.  Branches groan, buds peak out
Crocuses push through the snow.  Spring is here.

The program will illustrate the story of the loss of the side-wheel steamer, Portland, in 1898.  Traveling from Boston to Portland, Maine, it was lost with all hands in a great gale.

The second part of the show deals with the most dangerous lighthouse in North America, Minot's Light off Cohasset, Massachusetts.

CALLING ALL COOKS

cook

The FOL has planned a cookbook fund raiser.  All proceeds will benefit the library.  We can not do this without your recipes.  Will you share them?  Forms will be available at the library beginning in April.  The forms make it easier to share your recipes and to categorize them.  All recipes will need to be submitted by June 1.  We hope to put these together so they can be ready for November release and holiday giving.  Anyone interested in assisting with this worthwhile project, please contact Teresa Jasinski.  TJasinski@MSN.com.

Michael Moran Memorial Run

Many thanks to Hillary Hewitson for naming the Friends of the Library the recipient of donations raised in her Boston Marathon Run.    We have received $2,624.00 to date.  All funds raised by Hillary in memory of her dear friend Michael Moran will be used to purchase books for the library.  We wish Hillary all the best on April 19. Donations can be made to the Michael Moral Memorial Run by logging on to www.justgiving.com/PFP/MMoranMemorial  or sending a check payable to the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library c/o Lisa Ohman.

Boston by Foot

map of Boston

Boston by Foot was founded in 1976 to promote public awareness of Boston's outstanding architectural heritage.  Boston by Foot offers a variety of 90-minute guided walking tours, including The Heart of the Freedom Trail, Victorian Back Bay, Literary Landmarks, Beacon Hill, Boston Underground, and others.

The Library has the Boston by Foot pass for one group of up to four people on any regularly scheduled tour from May through October.  This is a savings of $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children.
